Description
“Wild Horses” by Jim Gartin
12″ x 24″ x 18″H – L/E -99 – Painted Resin
Some of my work was created at my summer place in the Adirondacks, Saratoga County. So you may say I am a Saratoga artist. I first showed sculpture in Saratoga Springs because of a family story. My grandfather, Jim Gartin, caught wild horses in eastern Oregon and brought them in stock cars by train to sell in the East (we never knew where). His brother, William Gartin, was a dealer for Canfield in the Saratoga Springs Casino until 1907. Dad used to say “Maybe Grandpa sold horses in Saratoga Springs!”
My plan is to rework this in Bronze.
